Jean Milo, pseudonym of Jean Émile Van Gindertael, born in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode in 1906 and died in Rixensart in 1993, is a Belgian painter, poet, essayist and novelist. Also the father of actor Quentin Milo Between 1926 and 1931, Jean Milo was deputy director of the Brussels gallery Le Centaure. As a painter, he was influenced in his work by Edgard Tytgat to whom he dedicated a biography. He co-founded the Abstract Art Group in 1952. In the 1960s, he produced a series of medium-sized photocollages, many of which are conserved by the Verbeke Foundation of Kemzeke in Belgium.
